Union Mills & Lake Lure Area Cabins
Our easternmost Asheville NC mountain cabins sit in and around Union Mills, a quiet rural pocket closer to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. If you want wide-open views, dark skies for stargazing, and an easier arrival from the Charlotte side, this is the area to consider.
Why Union Mills
Union Mills trades a few extra minutes of driving for a more open, pastoral feel than the densely wooded communities to the west. You’re roughly 45 to 55 minutes from downtown Asheville, but you’re also noticeably closer to the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock attractions on the eastern flank of the mountains — and meaningfully closer to Charlotte and the I-85 corridor if that’s your inbound route.

The reward for the extra distance is space. Cabins here tend to have broader sightlines and less light pollution, which makes them some of our best for an evening on the porch watching the sky.
