My husband and I stayed for a quick weekend getaway. This place was perfect!

Eric was incredibly responsive, helpful, and easy to work with. The place was clean and comfortable, and the hot tub was a fun bonus—we really enjoyed our time there. The only thing we missed during the reservation process was that the unit doesn’t have a full kitchen, which is important for us on stays longer than one night. That was completely our oversight. We shared our concern with Eric, and he was very understanding and helped us cancel the next two nights without any issues. Thank you, Eric!

Arrived after dark. Check-in was accurate and easy! The place is beautiful!
There’s a review here that says there are no coffee filters. There are coffee filters; but be prepared to bring your own coffee. There is some sweetener and flavored creamer.
Pros:
This is in a secluded area, so if you’re looking to disconnect and get away, this is great! We didn’t watch TV the entire time we were there. We had to drive 20-25 minutes to get groceries or takeout.

Grass was a foot tall on arrival. Toileting Dachshunds in the tall grass was difficult. Unable to use fire pit 1st night because of grass.
Owner is developing the land behind this unit into rentals. He’s up early using heavy equipment with backup beeper.
We napped late morning and were awakened by him mowing.
Very small shower; water pressure/temp erratic.
Mini fridge froze food and busted canned drinks. Use a cooler!

I spent a week there, while i worked on my sisters house. It was very nice, and quiet. Slept like a baby there. Would definitely stay there again.

We had such a great stay! Everything was just as described. I will say, I didn’t realize the cottage was pet friendly and I am allergic to dogs. I was reading the guest book and read story after story of visitors who brought their pups along with them. I didn’t sneeze or itch or even have to clear my throat once during our stay!! I was shocked pets had been there because of just how fresh and clean of pet hair/dander it was - so kudos to whoever does the cleaning. This is the perfect spot for 2 to get away.

This was my second time staying at Eric’s place and just like the first time, it didn’t disappoint. I love how private and quiet it is and it was just what I needed for a quick getaway.

A Quiet place for a nice getaway, water pressure was very low and only having the grill to cook food can be a hassle in rough weather conditions, along with the hot tub needing a new filter/cleaning. Other then that the area is peaceful along with an amazingly comfortable bed and atmosphere that me and my wife enjoyed and the owner was quick to respond to any questions.

Wonderful place for a secluded getaway. The hot tub was perfect during the cold winter nights. We used the grill to make all of our meals and it worked perfectly. We loved how bright the stars were due to no ambient light. Closest town is about 15-20 min away with nice coffee shops, shopping and a great pizza/beer spot called flygirl.

Side Note so you don’t have to go to dollar general: Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap, coffee, and coffee filters.

Wonderful weekend getaway!

Wow! What a cute place! It was very cool they changed a gatehouse into an Airbnb. The property around was great to hike with our dogs. No one else was around! Sooo serene and quiet, you could hear your thoughts. We would love to go back when it’s warmer, 30 degrees today, and ride our bikes on the Thermal Belt loop.
I would recommend staying here.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. It was extremely peaceful and didn’t see a single soul in that area. The only complaints that I would have is that the hot water kept going in and out while showering and there was animal hair on the floor and on the bed. It was in the 20s during our stay so showering in hot then suddenly cold water was very uncomfortable. The shower is quite small so you can’t really move away from the cold stream of water either. We were able to make dinner outside in the grill, but again, it wasn’t very pleasant given how cold it was out there.

Finally! A bed worth sleeping in. All we needed was a place to lay our heads and this fit the bill perfectly. The hot tub was an added bonus at the end of a day climbing around in the woods! Thanks for letting us check in early too Eric!

Stayed at Eric’s place for 2 nights with my dog. Location is beautiful, great for walking/hiking, bed was really comfortable and the hot tub was an added bonus! Easy access to Lake Lure and only 1 hour from Asheville/the Biltmore Estate. Would love to come back with family and rent Eric’s big lodge next door (11 bedrooms!).

Honestly, this place was way better than what the reviews previously could have described. Pictures couldn’t compare, 1000% better in person, like most things, but still, lil remote and roughly 20min away from anything but at least there’s a dollar general close by haha. I definitely spent too much time in the hot tub, made a spider friend who was kind enough to kill all mosquitoes and entertain as well, saw some oversized bunnies with the sunrise one morning. I really can go on and on about how amazing this place was just what I needed. The perfect birthday gift to myself:)

Eric’s place was perfect for a last minute secluded getaway. Highly recommend if in the area if you want to escape. Closest towns is Marion & Rutherfordton. Lake Lure & Chimney Rock only 30 mins. Very unique place. You can tell it was once a gate guard house for the larger house in the distance that’s been remodeled into this cool little place.

The property itself is gorgeous. However, I felt uncomfortable going into the hot tub after noticing a camera was placed on the outside wall, where the
Hosts could listen to everything. Don’t advertise it as “private” when it isn’t private. I understand wanting to have cameras, but it is policy that you disclose that information, which was not disclosed to us.

Had an amazing stay. It was a last minute choice due to the hurricane evacuating my originally planned vacation. This was a great alternative. It was private, had great views and the jacuzzi was an awesome addition. The Hosts were great and very quick to respond. I highly recommend this small quaint space for a lovely romantic getaway! I do suggest you grab groceries before heading in, there are a few windy roads on the way.

We enjoyed our stay! The surroundings are beautiful and the setting was private and quiet, but it is close enough to drive to nearby trails and attractions.

Peaceful Paradise!

Very relaxing & clean little place to stay, definitely recommend for a couples getaway. The views were 10/01 and the hot tub after a hike was so nice. Only about 30 min from chimney rock and there’s so many unique things to do.

The cottage was a very nice place to stay for a short trip. It has just enough for 1-2 people to have a great getaway. The hot tub is very nice too, and I’m sure in the winter it’s even better. I’d recommend staying at this serene venue!!

Great place

The place was clean, private, and had beautiful views! The hot tub was a nice way to end the days. It feels so remote but not so remote for an Uber Eats delivery. Rutherfordton was a quiet town during our visit. The Purple Martin Greenway Trail was close and it was an easy and relaxing hike and there was a place for our Lab to play in a stream. There was an ice cream shop in downtown Rutherfordton that had delicious ice cream. The Copper Penny had decent food, tasty Bloody Mary’s, and it was dog friendly!

We enjoyed our stay. The host was ALWAYS responsive and helpful. The grass needed cutting and some weed spray would definitely be helpful re: a maintained appearance. A replacement umbrella is needed for the outdoor area; temps are up and coverage is definitely necessary while at the grilling area. A T.V. could also be enjoyable in the sleeping quarters. All in all, it was a nice stay and beautiful scenery!

We absolutely LOVED our stay! We realized we stayed with one of Eric’s other mountain properties “Nice & Knotty” previously and enjoyed that as well! Great host and we will definitely be back, as we have purchased land about 12 miles away! ♥️

it was beautiful and cozy. the bed was a little firm but overall I loved the whole vibe. the view was incredible and perfect for star gazing.

We wanted a quiet getaway for the weekend, this was the perfect place and size to celebrate our anniversary. There was an issue with the air conditioner and Eric was right on it. I fully believe things happen, and how it is handled determines whether we will be back. There was no delay in response time and Eric checked on us the next day. We ate at the Copper Penny in Rutherford for dinner, delishish. Loved the Hot Tub setup, it was clean and private. We will be back for another stay.

I cannot begin to write a glowing review accurate enough to describe Eric's space. We were in a pinch and booked the space with VERY little notice and from the gate, Eric was beyond wonderful.

Loved this Airbnb! Super quiet and peaceful, perfect for a chill getaway. The kitchenette was great, but the cleaning stuff could've been more organized - found some used sponges in the cabinet. Place was spotless, nonetheless.
The grill, hot tub, and firepit were awesome and made everything feel super cozy. There's a big house nearby, but it's far enough for privacy.

This was so easy to book, very private and quiet. If you’re looking for cozy comfort this is definitely it.

This home was the perfect place to escape into nature and a short distance from Asheville! The structure and accommodations were durable and simple.

Eric responded quickly with any questions we had, including some awesome recommendations for food and hiking.

We had the opportunity to go for a run on site. If you run the full pavement, it’s about .5mi. We ran several times and enjoyed the quiet and crisp nature air.

We had a great weekend here. The wife and I enjoyed the hot tub while grilling. The location is quiet and private. Easy to take a pup out for walks and bathroom breaks. Listing is accurate, everything worked as expected.

This place is beautiful! It was very clean. Eric was very responsive and nice. We had a little trouble getting into where the hot tub is, he called and walked us through it. We did see quite a few lady bugs but I think it’s just because it’s in the mountains. Can’t wait to come back ?

The location was perfect. It was so quiet, peaceful and private; exactly what I was looking for. Everything was super clean and tidy. The hot tub and grill in its own little cabana was a perfect added touch. I will definitely be back next time I’m able to run away for a few days.

Place smaller than expected but still nice. The stores and restaurants are 20 minutes away so prepare for that. The walking trail and Jacuzzi are the highlights.

My partner and I stayed here for a much needed romantic getaway and the cabin was amazing. The hot tub was working and so lovely on the chilly nights we stayed. The cabin was a clean space and we were very grateful for all the cleaning supplies that were available. It made checking out so easy. We would definitely book here again! This cottage was perfect for a relaxing get-a-way with great views! The hosts are very responsive as well! We enjoyed our stay very much! There is a big house near the end of the driveway, but it still feels very private!

If you are looking to stay in this area look no further. It’s right next to a giant beautiful house that’s off to the side so you can have privacy. The hot tub is amazing. The central air works great. Plenty of place to store stuff. It used to be an old security guard post to watch over the giant house being built. So you can park your car under the covered roof.

This was my first time staying at an AirBnB. I normally don’t and stay at chain hotels like Marriott because I felt uncomfortable staying at an AirBnb. This totally changed how I feel about staying AirBnB’s I didn’t have to worry about anything. Felt secure and the place was pristine clean. The driveway is new. It’s a beautiful location. The hot tub water was changed before arrival. Honestly everything was great. Highly recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights in the cottage and it was perfect! We both thought it felt bigger than it looks in the photos. It was super easy to find. The hot tub was fantastic after spending our days exploring outside. We visited Mount Mitchell, Pearson’s Falls and Glenn, Chimney Rock, and Wiseman’s View. The area is so beautiful and there are views in every direction. The view of the mountains from the cottage was beautiful to admire while sitting by the fire. We will definitely be back!
