Cruso Creek Villa 2 – Creekside Mountain Retreat with Hot Tub & Views

My girlfriend and I were looking for an admitted last second getaway for New Years Eve and we were not disappointed. The cabin (villa) was comfortable, clean, and inviting. Being able to hear the creek right outside was a pleasant surprise and just helped add to the ambiance. It was such a great getaway for us and our two dogs.

Clean and close to the Pigsah National Forest and popular trails. We picked this place because of the location, being dog friendly, fenced in yard, and privacy. However, the yard is only partially fenced in and it sits right on the road, so it’s not so private as the front is completely exposed to the road and neighbors. Cannot keep dog off-leash and the hot tub is completely visible from the main road and neighbors. Other than that, we had a great stay and time. Would recommend if privacy and fenced in yard for your dog is not a priority.

What an amazing few days leading up to Christmas! We needed a few things and Eric was immediately responsive and took care of what we needed! Kitchen was wonderful and had a lot of items. Used the propane grill. Hot tub was awesome! Bed was nice and big, relatively comfy too which doesn’t happen often lol. Overall great experience and highly recommend to anyone viewing!

Nice cozy 1 bedroom half of a house rental. The aesthetic and surroundings of the Airbnb were wonderful as was the kitchen, hot tub and grill, these amenities were nice.

Was not a happy with the fact the property was being shared by other strangers, the post should mention how it’s a duplex and not a single family dwelling. The unexpected rules of washing the dishes and sheets right before check out was a surprise and should be part of the rules before booking.

Due to these surprise rules, all the sheets and towels smelled like mildew since, I assume, no one puts them to dry right away after they’re done washing. Did not enjoy the first night sleeping on mildew pillows, had to rewash all the sheets and pillow cases before being able to sleep.

Overall it was okay, closer to staying at a friends house rather than booking at a nice mountain cabin. 4/5 would book again.

We got ton of hiking in, and we appreciate the coziness of the cabin. Everything you need is there, the WIFI works great, and very dog friendly! We would stay again and recommend! Eric’s crib is super fire. Didn’t need to talk to them once but the instructions were so clear there was never a need. Would definitely recommend

Peaceful and quiet location. About a 40 min drive to AVL. However Waynesville is nearby and definitely worth it to check out. Cabin is exactly as described and is super cozy.

A beautiful place to stay in a nice rural area. Close to beautiful hiking spots on Blue Ridge Parkway and only a thirty minute drive to Asheville for wonderful restaurants and experiences. Very clean and wonderful hot tub.

Eric was always quick to respond to my questions. Was willing to give genuine suggestions. Was very easy to talk to. Loved the location and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Loved the creek running through the property. Felt private although you are sharing a wall with another renter.

Eric was a fantastic host; very responsive, and the cabin was exactly what I was looking for.
Neither of the next comments are critiques; rather just items to be aware of.

The cabin is essentially a duplex; there is a second unit on the back wall. It took me a minute to know why I heard people moving around.

The yard is fenced, and Eric did a fantastic job of making the fence extremely private. It is solid! One side of the barrier is actually a creek or brook, which is a lovely feature! I did feel like I needed to be mindful of that as I had my dog with me.

Again, no issues, just things to be mindful of when you arrive!

This was an amazing place. Very peaceful, beautiful,and clean. Loved the hot tub and craftsmanship of it all. We would definitely recommended it.

The host responded almost immediately to a question I had before booking. The house is great and location is so peaceful. There's a stream that runs right beside the house. A nice porch to sit on or relax in the hot tub and listen the stream. The only thing I would change is a softer bed. I will definitely recommend this location to others and we will be back for sure!

The cabin was such a quaint little place to spend some time after Christmas! The creek is so peaceful and the surrounding neighborhood is very cozy and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin and hope to come back soon! NC has literally the friendliest people and the little surrounding towns have great restaurants and shops. Definitely would recommend to others.

We enjoyed our hassle-free stay over the Christmas holiday. Easy check in/out, simple instructions to follow, and enough amenities to have a pleasant stay. The hot tub, fenced yard, and nearby creek added to the enjoyment. We’d stay again when we’re in the area!

This airbnb was really nice and in a very quiet place. Because it’s in the wood we did see a lot of bugs and ants inside the house but everything else was really nice. Host was quick to respond.

I needed a place for peace and quiet as well as some r&r. Eric's place gave me all of that. It’s cozy and comfy. Love that sofa! The bed was a bit more firm than I am accustomed to, but I still slept great. I was also able to enjoy the hot tub thanks to cooler evenings and mornings. It’s likely I will visit again.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful oasis! Our dogs loved the fenced area and with the way the yard drops off to the creek, our dogs weren’t interested going to the creek that is not fenced in (which was wonderful for our peace of mind). Location & photos of the home were as described, and it was so easy for us to check in. We plan on booking this location again and highly recommend for anyone with dogs ?

Nice place. We enjoyed our stay. The bed was really comfortable.

Very peaceful area, but not quite as private as I had hoped. The pictures provided are very accurate, I had just hoped that with the time of year that there would have been more foliage growth to provide less visibility from the road onto the property. The hot tub is on the front porch, with practically unobstructed visibility from the road and neighbors, which made me less than 100% comfortable when trying to relax.

My boyfriend and I came for a little country cabin getaway. We had so much fun enjoying the hot tub and spending quality time together. The home is perfect for a little vacation at any time

This was the perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I. We cracked the window in the bedroom at night and slept to the sound of the creek beside us. It was perfect! Even with the weather on the chilly side, the hot tub was an excellent addition and so relaxing.

Overall stay was nice, property was perfect for our family size. Once we arrived on site we immediately noticed that the property was more of a duplex which was not CLEARLY stated. Cob webs, excessive amount of dog hair, and crumbs were some of things that were not cleaned. My significant other cleaned the night before we left and it seems like we cleaned more of other people’s mess than our own.

It was a great thanksgiving get away from Miami. Peaceful loving surroundings. Kitchen had all the gadgets to cook a Turkey. It was truly all comfortable in the cabin but what’s really unique about this place is taking a walk along side of the creek. So beautiful!

Very quiet and peaceful cabin.

Pros: fairly private location, romantic and quaint, grill on site. Hosts were extremely responsive and professional. We were able to add an extra night to our stay before arrival without issues.
Cons: the place had great potential but the difference is in the details. The unit looked like it hadn’t been used in a while but sending someone out to dust cobwebs and do a wipe down would have made a difference. There was human and dog hair on several surfaces. There was dog hair in the hot tub. Pots and pans were used and unwashed. Overall the kitchen looked like a collection of old pots, pans, and utensils. A new non-stick pot set would go a long way. Absolutely nothing is provided in the kitchen—we discovered a collection of coffee filters left by other guests but that’s it. Biggest con was being unable to control the thermostat on our own.
Over all, we were refunded for the additional night and cleaning fee and offered a free night should we book again.

The location of the AIRBNB isn’t too fair from local DG , Walmart , or a few restaurants. Checkin was simple , and great , simple instructions ! However , if driving a bigger vehicle like we did , it is a tight fit going over the small bridge over the creek . The Parking space is shared with VILLA 1 , however we didn’t know this . So this is probably the only place you’ll see people during your stay unless you leave . It was very private , however we left the truck bed open the night we got there , and by the next morning someone had shut it (NOT US), which is weird . The hot tub was nice , the WI-FI worked great . You also couldn’t control the thermostat, which was kinda aggravating because it got chilly ! Other than that , it was good !

We absolutely love this place definitely would stay there again. We loved how quiet it was there the creek was nice to wake up to in the morning. The hot tub was definitely a plus the dogs loved it.
I will say the one thing that does suck about this place is nothing delivers out there because it is so far out there

Best experience, especially with communication. The owner was willing to work with me and my storm planning, making me feel supported and more comfortable vacation. The creek is beautiful, appliances were useful, and the hot tub was perfect (especially with a rainy day). Will definitely be booking one of Eric’s properties in the future!

Our stay was okay but not what I was hoping for. The cabin is really a duplex with shared parking for those two units and what looks to be a bigger shed-type unit or maybe it’s just simply a shed. The good: creek sound was awesome and the king bed was comfy. The not-great: all of the floors slope so we definitely wondered about the foundation. Even the spa water is fuller on one end due to the slope. Cooking skillet was not great which frustrates my husband when cooking eggs and bacon. We didn’t love having to contact the host to adjust the air conditioning temperature. Up’ing it to 70 the first day we arrived happened within minutes of my request. It took a couple of days to get the temp turned down when the days were warmer. The creek is not on the same side of the house as the deck, so there is no seating at the creek. We moved the patio chairs to sit by the creek one night and the host must have come to the cabin the next day and moved the chairs back to the porch while we were not at the cabin. That felt a bit uncomfortable to us since we didn’t have a message about them coming by. There is no outdoor trash receptacle, so I had to ask the host to come by and pick up our trash a few days after we were there. It kind of killed me to stockpile dog poop bags while we continued to collect enough trash to warrant a stop over by the host. Tons of massive spiders on the front porch. I get it that it is a rustic cabin in the middle of nowhere, but since the host obviously lives nearby enough to move chairs and pick up trash, I would expect the host to also remove spiderwebs and spiders (or spray) before guests showed up. The rate isn’t low enough to expect those kinds of conditions. Be sure to note that the location is Cruso which is another 15 mins from Canton. So, it is pretty far to Asheville. No Uber Eats delivery that far out of town and Canton doesn’t really have restaurants anyways. Closest was Waynesville for decent restaurants. This place was way too rustic for me and the sloped flooring was crazy. We won’t be back to this one.

Was exactly what we needed.

Pros and CONS. I will start this off by saying Eric was very responsive and quick to answer any questions and solve most issues we had during our stay. Those are the only compliments I can give. During our stay and during inspection our bath tub was cracked leaving water to run under tub and into floors of house making us uncomfortable to shower. There were remains of a roach and other insects in the reservoir of the coffee pot (thankfully we didn’t use). DO NOT PURCHASE FOOD. The refrigerator DID NOT work and majority of our food spoiled in approx 24 hours unless it could be frozen. Lastly, there was a basketball sized hornet nest in the shrub directly beside our door that caused us to be swarmed upon entry during our stay. Our dog was stung and was unable to hike the remainder of our trip. I had made Eric aware of all of these things before requesting a partial refund of only $150. When we requested a refund for all of these issues he stated that his cleaning people charged an extra 2 hours because of “mud”, “hair”, and dog waste. There was no mud. Yes, there was hair, but you open your Airbnb to dogs. What do you expect? And we specifically cleaned up dog waste prior to leaving so we may have missed 1-2 piles.

3/10 experience. I only give a 3 because Eric is very responsive, but if you’re going to offer vacation rentals to people seeking to relax you should take better care of your properties. Can’t imagine if one of us had been allergic to wasps.

We enjoyed our stay! The place is nice, well-furnished, and very spacious. The description was accurate. It was private and quiet, but it was only about a half hour from downtown Asheville. We expect to stay again.

Lovely stay! Great for remote working and dogs! Easy to find and not a bad drive to downtown Asheville. Eric was very responsive and helpful.

Incredibly relaxing home! My partner and I stayed here for three nights over Memorial Day weekend 2022. We picked this place because we wanted to be as close to Black Balsam Knob since we were eloping there during our stay. This location was great because we still felt like we were out in the mountains but also close enough to Canton and Waynesville. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We loved that we could bring our dog and he was able to play in the yard that was fenced in. Listening to the creek was my favorite part. The home had everything we needed, and Eric was very responsive with any questions I had while we were there. We hope to visit this house again soon!

Fantastic spot. Right by a gorgeous stream, beautiful view from hot tub, lovely smell of wooded cabin. Can’t wait to stay again. The surrounding area and hiking is breathtaking:)

Really cozy and secluded cabin, perfect for two people with plenty of space. Our pups enjoyed the fenced in yard. Hot tub was relaxing and the creek was by far our favorite part, so peaceful to wake up to everyday. It is about a 30-40 minute drive to downtown Asheville depending on traffic, but wasn’t a bad drive at all. We loved this place and will be back!

This property is a wonderful little escape! Eric is great communicating with and incredibly helpful and friendly. The property is well kept and well stocked for the essentials.

We had a great time on our mini honeymoon! The cabin was nice and cozy and very clean! The hot tub was awesome! There was construction on the road very close by but it didn't bother us much at all. Over all we had a great time!

Just the right place for a respite after backpacking the Pisgah National Forest! Hot tub was wonderful. The space was clean and comfortable. Having a washer/dryer was a bonus! Not too far from Asheville for and afternoon or evening of exploring. Would come here again!

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy some time in the mountains. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect for the rainy cold weather we had - it’s covered so you can use it anytime. The place was also perfect for bringing our dog. She had room to run around outside.

Eric property was amazing, surrounded by beautiful bamboo and a serene creek! The running water was so relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and relaxing vibe that this beautiful cabin had to offer. Would highly recommend as we cannot wait to come back!! 🙂
